When I started Liminal Sounds about two years ago Anneka was one of the first artists I ever interviewed, so I am very pleased to be able to bring you a new track from her solo ventures, ‘Jaws Of Day’.
Having first emerged as a singer contributing her bewitching vocals to productions from a diverse range of artists that includes Vex’d, Ital Tek, Starkey and Blue Daisy, recent months have seen her developing her solo material and honing a new live show. Currently working on her debut solo EP, Anneka is giving away a free download of ‘Jaws Of Day’, a track that originally came out as part of the mammoth 61 track Electronic Explorations compilation, which I would highly recommend checking out here.
The self-produced ‘Jaws Of Day’ is a promising indication of her forthcoming solo material, carefully sculpting a skewed electronic landscape that is beautiful and haunting in equal measures. The mesmeric loop-driven instrumental is carried along by a sparse, icy rhythm held aloft in a dense fog of ambience, its path lit only by the faint glimpses of melody, while on top of this Anneka layers her vocals into a bed of otherworldly choral harmonies through which her voice pierces with both clarity and emotion.
You can stream ‘Jaws Of Day’ below, and it is available as a free download via her facebook page here.
You can catch her at the following upcoming live dates:
26th October – Deer Brains Halloween Party – Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes – London
27th October – Winter Series – Above Audio – Brighton
17th November – Supporting Plaid – Concorde 2 – Brighton
