VIDEO: COLO – PICTURE OF YOU

Colo - Midnight Sun EP (Take Records)

Liminal sounds mix series alumni colo (check out their stunning contribution to the series here) have been a firm favourite of mine ever since hearing their track ‘TwentySix’ on a free Take Records sampler early last year. I shan’t rehash all the reasons why I keep returning to their music, but suffice to say the production duo’s slow-burning, hazy creations possess a certain alchemy to them that flickers with soul beyond 0s and 1s.

They have just announced the release of their debut EP on Take Records entitled ‘Midday Sun’, which is set for release on vinyl and digital in March and comes backed with a brilliant selection of remixes from George Fitzgerald, Ken Kojima, Epoque and Ben Barratt. True to form, the four track EP is a beautifully crafted selection of warm, soulful electronica. From the out of focus stumble of ‘Rick’ to the joyous, sun-kissed ‘Never Again’ and the more pensive and subdued tones of ‘Church’, the EP provides plenty to immersive yourself in.

They have also just premiered the self-directed video for lead track ‘Picture Of You, which is a perfect example of what they bring to the table. Opening on a tidal swell of dense, swirling synths, it unfurls into an open plane as they lay an effortless, loosely swung rhythmic groove on a bed of soft synths complimented by the fragile, childlike vocal refrain. You can watch the video for it below:
